Babu is a self taught artist from Kerala. He is an artist whose canvases are brought alive with vivid colours and fantastic creatures. His brushes paint on full-blooded reds, vibrant yellows and sparkling blues and greens, creating nearly human figures with some sexual undertones in watercolours that seem to radiate light almost like a prism.
He has exhibited his works in various solo and group shows in India and abroad.
Babu is the recipient of the 20th Lalit Kala Akademi Award, 1990.
His paintings are found in the collections of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; National Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Glenberra Museum, Japan; Chester Herwitz Collection, USA; Taj Group of Hotels, India; Engelhard Family Collections, Germany; CIMA Gallery, Kolkata; Pundole Gallery, Mumbai; etc.
