Suhas Roy (b. 1936)
Suhas Roy's current preoccupation is with the female face and form, most evident in his Radha series, where his subjects are romanticised, inhabiting the dreamlike world between sensuality and innocence. In the past he has done a series on Jesus and some beautiful landscapes as well. This graceful portrayal of his subjects has much to do with his choice of materials - his crayons, charcoal and brush have sensitivity and refinement. A favorite of art galleries, Suhas Roy is one of the more famous artists of modern Indian Art.
