Art Statement
In his own stylised vocabulary which is deeply rooted in the Indian folk, artist Thota Laxminarayan experiments with his forms to contemporise the rural idiom. Without diluting the essence of his environment he creates visual challenges in his compositions. The serene appearing folk in his paintings are executed in an exceptional economy of lines. Although portrayed in a vibrant palette, the colour scheme is bold and well coordinated. His spectator never finds a dull moment as each canvas is a social documentary of country life. Humans coexisting with the flora and fauna are appropriate indicators of green lives living in harmony in their milieu.
Tutored by Guruji, (Shri Ravinder Sharmaji), a revered name in the art and design schools of the country, Laxminarayana brings in a native charm into contemporary art. Working as Resident Artist at Daira Centre for Arts and Culture, he holds a good record of exhibitions and art camps.
